The majority of Buddy volunteers are high school boys and girls but the program also registers elementary and middle school students as well as adult volunteers. Through interaction with their special needs players, ignorance and stereotypes are overcome as our student volunteers learn patience, understanding and the ability of one person to positively influence and change the life of another.

The Parkland Buddy Sports is authorized through the schools to provide community hours to our student volunteer Buddies. Between 2002 and 2011, our student volunteers, who represent more than 20 area schools, have earned more than 20,000 community service hours.
